Jared Faltys' Family
As an active family of 6 the Faltys’ are always up for a new challenge. So when the opportunity came knocking to become a part of something that would impact not only Norfolk, but the surrounding communities as well, Jared Faltys knew he had to answer. For years Jared and his fellow committee members volunteered countless hours researching and collecting data, trying to satisfy the communities’ indoor recreation need. This community need matched the YMCA’s great need for additional space. When the vision finally came together, Jared and the committee enlisted an army of volunteers to help with the great mission of raising $10 Million for a new YMCA expansion. Thus, the Raise the Roof campaign was born.
To Jared and his wife Julie, this addition is not just about providing activities for their children to do year-round, it is about providing opportunities for people of all ages in the Norfolk area. Children and teens will have more opportunities to be involved in programs like soccer, archery, lacrosse, flag football, and year-round baseball/softball. Adults who work non-traditional hours will have admittance to the weight room’s extended hours and larger space. The elderly and the disabled will have easier access to all the attractions the YMCA has to offer with a newly added elevator. The expansion will give the Y a greater ability to utilize our Sponsored Membership Program, ensuring that every child has access to the programs at the Y. Overall, the future expansion will allow the YMCA to better accommodate its growing membership population.
